What Services Does The Shepherd’s Refuge Offer?

Individual Pastor Care

  • A monthly personalized meeting, offering a confidential space to discuss challenges and receive prayer.

  • These group sessions connect pastors in a cohort setting for a presentation and discussion around a relevant topic (e.g. ministry endurance, physical fitness, burnout prevention).

These sessions foster accountability and shared wisdom, allowing pastors to learn from both a knowledgeable presenter and one another’s experiences and progress.

  • Biblical Counseling sessions are designed to address personal or family issues that often arise in a pastor’s ministry. These sessions offer a confidential space to explore struggles, find healing, and receive encouragement rooted in Scripture.

  • A Focus Module is a structured program that targets a specific area of change or growth (e.g. screen/tech use, spiritual disciplines).

Each module is completed over one month and includes reading, reflection questions, and journaling exercises to encourage continual personal and spiritual formation.

Each module includes a debrief session with a Pastoral Leadership Mentor.

  • This customized two-night retreat experience offers dedicated time for rest, renewal, and personal reflection. Pastors can use this time to recharge spiritually, mentally, and physically with prayer and counsel provided by a Pastoral Leadership Mentor.

Group Leadership Support

  • A comprehensive retreat experience for church leadership teams at a location of your choosing. Through teaching and guided sessions, this retreat equips leaders to align their vision, strengthen their unity, and return revitalized for effective ministry.

  • Practical, one-day workshops at your location covering key topics related to leading a church. These workshops can be customized according to your needs.

  • The Shepherd’s Refuge is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing care, coaching, and connection to pastors and ministry leaders, enabling them to thrive in their calling.

  • Pastors often carry immense burdens, balancing leadership responsibilities, counseling, preaching, and administrative tasks. They face emotional fatigue, stress, and burnout at high rates, and intentional care helps sustain them in their ministry.

  • He may not, but many pastors appear fine outwardly while the pressures of ministry often weigh heavily. Preventative care is vital—ensuring he remains healthy and avoids burnout.

Think of it like regular maintenance for a car—it helps avoid a breakdown later.

While pastors should care for their own souls, they often pour into others so much that they neglect their own needs. This gift encourages and enables him to access the care he needs to maintain his resilience.

  • Possibly, but many churches have tight budgets that don’t allow for adequate pastoral care. This initiative empowers congregants to provide directly for their pastor without straining church finances.

  • Great question! Some pastors are already well-supported and have full schedules.

In these cases, if a pastor is notified about the benefits but chooses not to engage regularly, I still stay connected by letting him know I’m praying for him and asking if there’s anything specific I can pray about.

I also keep him informed about the services The Shepherd’s Refuge offers and remind him that he has access to them at a discounted rate whenever he needs them.

Rest assured, the funds you give will always go directly toward providing care and support for pastors in need.

  • We will inform your pastor and guide him through the process of accessing the funds. You can remain anonymous or share about your gift directly.

  • Yes, The Shepherd’s Refuge is a registered nonprofit organization with charitable status through The Great Commission Foundation, so your contributions are tax-deductible.

  • Thanks for asking. That’s a very kingdom-minded question.

Absolutely! If you know a pastor outside your church who would benefit from this, you can provide his name and church in the comment box.
